Black Kettle Soap Company was founded because of the need to relieve the 'itches' for five out of six of our beautiful daughters. Eczema has been a big problem for us. As we started to research our issues we learned about the natural soothing properties of handmade soap and oils. We've been hooked ever since.*

We've named our company Black Kettle in homage to the 'Old School' soap makers that came before us. Every bar of soap is handmade using the finest natural ingredients, including olive oil, coconut oil, palm oil, avocado oil, and various nut oils. Essential oils are chosen for their therapeutic properties as well as for their delightful aromas. Our fragrance oils are the highest quality and smell absolutely fabulous. Fresh ingredients add to the richness of our naturally biodegradable products.

BK is dedicated to quality and creativity. Every bar of processed soap is hand made. We are constantly striving to create new and innovative products that look as good as they smell. We make our products in small batches, by hand, to control the quality and integrity of every item we sell.

Know that there's a real person working on making your order. We are striving toward more sustainability by using organic ingredients and green packaging when possible, reusing, recycling and repurposing.

A Little Soap History

Many still have fond memories of being on the farm and watching their mothers or grandmothers make soap.

Few remember the lye being leached from the wood ashes but most remember the drippings and left over animal fats being saved for this yearly soap making event.

They used huge iron pots, blackened by age and smoke, and the soap mixture was kept at a rolling boil over open camp fires, out in the backyard.

Surely it was far from being the sophisticated luxurious handmade soap we delight ourselves in today but, we can still appreciate the hard work that went into these early soap making ventures.

Today we have perfected the soap making process. We use the best oils, exotic ingredients, essential oils and fragrances to create a phenomenal bar of handmade soap unequal to anything you could find at the grocery store.
